Carlos Jr. learned how to make pizza as a kid working at his father's pizzeria in Hoboken, New Jersey. His grandparents, Lina and Filippo Centrella, started the family business there in the 1970's after immigrating from Avellino, Italy.
Upon selling their New Jersey shop in 2003, Carlos Jr.'s parents, Franca and Carlos Sr., moved to Sarasota with their two sons and opened Solorzano's Italian Restaurant on Siesta Drive. In 2007, Carlos Jr. and his brother Philip opened the first two locations of Solorzano Bros. Pizzeria on Siesta Key and on Webber Street in Sarasota
After five years of building the brand together, the brothers mutually agreed to grant one another majority ownership of each shop. Philip accepted responsibility of the Siesta Key location which eventually closed in 2020, while Carlos Jr. assumed proprietorship of and still independently operates the original Webber Street pizzeria today. Solorzano's Pizza on Webber Street is now the oldest pizzeria of it's name celebrating 15 years of business and the only Sarasota location owned and operated by a Solorzano. Carlos Jr. continues to carry on his family tradition with the families of Sarasota using the highest quality ingredients available in recipes and techniques perfected over three generations of pizza making.
